not a litany of despair. The book of Habakkuk does not end with a whimper, but on a note of triumph. What an amazing statement comes out of the prophet’s mouth. He says, “Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity.” It is easy, or at least relatively easy, to serve the Lord when everything is going well and his blessings are in evidence everywhere.
